Terms of Service
Effective date: April 22, 2026.
This page describes our actual practices honestly but has not been reviewed by a health-law attorney. It may be incomplete or inaccurate on fine legal points. If you're relying on this for an enrollment decision or a personal-data request, please also verify with Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or a licensed professional. We'll replace this banner when counsel has reviewed.
What MediNav is
MediNav is a free, neutral, consumer-facing tool that compares publicly available Medicare plan data for Wisconsin residents. It is not an insurance company, not a broker, and not affiliated with Medicare or the federal government.
What MediNav is not
- Not Medicare. The official Medicare site is medicare.gov. The official hotline is 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24/7.
- Not a licensed insurance producer. MediNav does not sell, enroll, bind, quote, or issue insurance. Any eventual broker hand-off would go to a separately licensed partner.
- Not a substitute for professional advice. Plan-choice decisions have medical, financial, and legal consequences. Verify with Medicare.gov, your doctor, the Wisconsin SHIP (1-800-242-1060), or a licensed professional.
Accuracy and uncertainty
We build on real CMS data (the 2026 MA / PD Landscape files, Monthly Prescription Drug Plan files, NPI Registry, and the Blue Button 2.0 API). That data is the most authoritative available and still has gaps:
- Carrier-reported provider directories are known to be incomplete. We label uncertain matches instead of pretending.
- Part D formularies and tier placement change mid-year; we show the most recent CMS Monthly file but prior auth and step-therapy rules can be updated by the plan.
- Medigap rates shown are indicative — real premiums depend on age, ZIP, underwriting, and household discounts. For a binding quote, use a licensed agent or the Wisconsin OCI rate comparisons.
- Star ratings, MOOPs, and benefit summaries reflect the CMS snapshot we ingested; carriers sometimes correct them.
MediNav is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties of any kind.
No enrollment through MediNav
You cannot enroll in a Medicare plan on this site. Enrollment happens at Medicare.gov, directly with the plan, or through a licensed agent.
Acceptable use
- Use MediNav for your own plan shopping, or to help a family member with their permission.
- Do not attempt to scrape, probe, reverse-engineer, or overload the service.
- Do not upload documents that belong to someone who has not consented.
- Do not use MediNav to impersonate Medicare, CMS, a carrier, or a licensed agent.
Blue Button 2.0
If you authorize the Blue Button 2.0 connection, CMS transfers your claims to MediNav under your HIPAA individual-access right. By using the connection you agree to the CMS Blue Button 2.0 Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. You can revoke the authorization at any time on Medicare.gov.
Cost
MediNav is free to use. We do not charge consumers. If, in the future, a licensed partner broker pays us a referral fee for a hand-off you expressly request, that fee is paid by the broker, not by you, and does not vary by plan.
No warranty
To the fullest extent allowed by law, MediNav disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Nothing on the site is legal, medical, tax, or financial advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, MediNav and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the site, even if advised of the possibility. Aggregate liability is capped at USD $100 or the amount you paid MediNav in the preceding twelve months, whichever is greater.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify MediNav against claims arising from your misuse of the site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party right.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dane County, Wisconsin.
Changes
When these terms change meaningfully we will update the effective date and, for material changes, post a banner on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
